Understanding Consent - Written by youth for youth

Consent is more than just saying “yes” or “no.” It’s an ongoing conversation that both people need to have before and during any kind of physical or sexual relationship.

In this series, we break down consent using the FRIES model, created by Planned Parenthood. FRIES stands for five simple ideas: consent must be Freely given, Reversible, Informed, Enthusiastic, and Specific.

We also talk about something just as important: power and coercion. Sometimes people say “yes” because they feel pressured, not because they truly want to. We explore why this happens and how to recognize it in yourself or someone else.

This series is made for teens and adults who want honest, easy-to-understand answers about consent, boundaries, and healthy relationships. Scroll down to watch each post in the series.
